Don’t Forget About the 180-Day Rule

180-Deadline

When it comes to Opportunity Zone investing, it’s important to remember that there’s a 180-day window of opportunity.

Here’s what that means: investors have exactly 180 days from the date of their capital gains event to invest those gains into an Opportunity Zone Fund to qualify for the potential tax benefits associated with the program per the IRS

As a reminder, there are three main types of capital gains events that are eligible to invest into an OZ Fund:

  • The sale of stock
  • The sale of a real estate
  • The sale of an interest in a partnership/business

This 180-day deadline is especially important if you’ve had short term gains from investing in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, for example, which you can invest into an OZ Fund like ours.
